monitors whether we'll have an el nino. they said we would have a wea el nino. last night they say it will be a neutral winter, not la nina or el nino. no el nino and less snowfall and less precipitation around here fewer storms come wintertime. here's hi-def doppler which anytime there is a storm it is the strongest most accurate radar in the bay area tracking a few showers hugging th coastline. it may affect you in santa cruz or capitola but missing right now the 280 corridor and 101 on the peninsula. here's what we have on a wide scale. notice all the clouds are just racing down from the north. that's why it's so cold outside. it's not going to change for the next couple of days what we are going to have is below normal temperatures even when the sunshine comes back. upper level low pressure is moving out enhancing of the northerly flow so the rain will leave after tonight. the cold is going to stick around. we'll be below normal for several days. high pressure building in starting veterans sunday. that will keep the rain away but we are on the northern fringe of it so we'll sti

emergency on the tracks. right now there's delays richmond to el cerrito. all other bart lines, ace, muni, caltrain, ferries are on time. the lines impacted the red and orange richmond to el cerrito there are delays due to an earlier medical emergency. elsewhere a couple of other problems on the roads. southbound 680 approaching treat boulevard in walnut creek, there is an accident cleared to the right-hand shoulder but it is slow and go through the area. also, an earlier police stand offis now over. all the off-ramps to treasure island are now back open. you can see access treasure island but this is a pretty intense overnight nearly 7 howe standoff. the turned on the metering lights early. so there is a bigger-than-usual backup at the bay bridge. jammed solid up to the incline. that's traffic. back to you guys. >>> the shuttle program is retired but the u.s. continues to make history in space travel. captain scott kelly will be on the international space station for a year. that would be the longest mission ever for a united states astronaut. the current record is 215 days. he is expect

pass all the way over to el charo and eastbound from the dublin interchange all the way over starting at about 10:00 a.m. that lasted into the afternoon hours. folks were heading to the new outlets, hundreds of stores there, and that was causing a big backup. likely again today since wee heading into the weekend. meanwhile a typical commute for the morning right now. a nice, easy drive through sunol as well but there may be clouds and fog developing right there past the golf course. a live look outside to see how things are shaping up. this is palo alto 101 north past university avenue. an easy drive. the peninsula, not a problem for 101 or 280. 880 moves smoothly as you're coming southbound with these headlights. that is building a bit heading out of union city. the northbound side moves smoothly through oakland and of course at the bay bridge toll plaza where the metering lights are on but the sunlight coming up too. that's a beautiful sunrise. ignore the backup at the toll plaza. back to you guys. >> thank you very much. >> don't be distracted by all that traffic. >>> 6:10. coming

the identities of four people killed in a horrific crash this week on highway 50 in el dorado county. three of them members of one oakland family. 38-year-old su,zhao. only the daughter survived. the rest of her family survived. patti lee reports on what investigators have found so far. >> reporter: chp investigators are trying to determine why a prius crossed the lanes to oncoming traffic. a placevville family was in the sierra mini van and four-year- old girl was killed. but four others including two- year-old infants were not badly injured. everyone inside the mini van was buckled up. many say an injured deer spotted in the area might have explained why the car swerved. >> i think it could be a high possibility. >> reporter: there's no evidence to confirm that theory say officers. investigators will now analyze the computers in the car to determine how fast they were traveling when they collided. the highway where the collision occurred is curvy and the posted speed limit 65 miles per hour. >> this used to be 55, and we were trying to get it passed to where we would be lowered to 45 mile

will still be down near san jose and the el diablo range but it will be accepting it. still, some residual showers. by 5:00 p.m., spotty showers will remain and even by the midnight hours. the chances of showers are run the bay area. as i mentioned, it is a slow-moving storm. we will have more rainfall than what we saw yesterday that futurecast span pointing one-half of 1 in. that is pretty accurate. i have a reason to believe that this computer rendering will be pretty close. as we move towards a 6:00, the rainfall will be concentrated to the north bay. the rainfall totals will be increasing in a hurry with two-inches. and to notice, not much south of the golden gate until later in the golden gate. put the rainfall totals increasing in the afternoon with 1 in. in oakland, san francisco, with 1 in. in hayward, notice livermore, san jose not picking up that much. we're not going quite seeing as much, we've santa rosa, and nearly three-inches in napa. rainfall totals will be 1-3 in. and most of the valley locations. 3 in. favored in the north bay where it will be lingering 3-6 in. and a hell

with a jacqueline the bay area moisture. >> for the most part there is lingering showers over the el diablo range. however, we can take a look at trader with improving conditions. the edge of your screen. and radar. other than that, things are clear. we are looking at the bay bridge toll plaza. mostly clear skies and we have seen a few lingering clouds over the hills this afternoon. and also fog lingering as we can see the visibility is certainly reduced. for the rainfall totals we have seen the rainfall for the majority of the overnight hours. for the bulk of the brain it was up to the north to santa rosa, and nearly 1 in. of that -- rainfall. bailey 1-quarter and one half in oakland. just barely traces in other areas. there is the tail end of that system with clear conditions. as we take a wider view of the cloud coverage and another storm is heading towards the bay area. we are not going to see any rainfall but we are going to see clouds that will keep things on the cooler side. for details on that, coming up. >> this gunman is on the loose in oakland and a store owner is dead. oakland police

is recovering after being struck by a hit-and-run driver. the accident happened thursday night on el camino and belmont. the collision left her motorized wheelchair heavily damaged. we have the details. >> this never happened. >> reporter: stephanie would like to forget everything about thursday night. >> it was very scary, yeah. >> reporter: stephanie is severely disabled and depends on her motorized wheelchair for everything. she was meeting friends at this i-hop when a friend turned in front of her, side swiping her chair and legs. the driver suddenly took off. >> it happens. >> the sudden collision left stephanie injured and in a state of shock, but she does remember two things, the driver was a woman in a dark-colored mercedes and that driver actually stopped, got out and asked stephanie a question. >> she got out and asked me if i was okay. i said i don't know. she said i -- i'm coming right back. >> did she come back? >> no. >> okay. >> stephanie was treat ted hospital for injuries to her foot, but her wheelchair is broken, out of service. >> it got damaged. the metal pads fell off.
